Senator Ben Ray Luján

U.S. Senator Ben Ray Luján has served as the junior senator from New Mexico's since 2021 succeeding Senator Tom Udall. Prior to being elected as our senator in 2020, he served in the U.S. House of Representatives, representing New Mexico's 3rd Congressional District since 2009. Before running for Congress in 2008 he served as a member of the New Mexico Public Regulation Commission from the 3rd district. 

Hailing from Santa Fe, he is the son of the late Ben Luján, who served in the New Mexico House of Representatives for 37 years and was the 21st Speaker of the New Mexico House of Representatives for the last 12 of those 37 years.

Representative Melanie Stansbury

U.S. Representative Melanie Stansbury has served as the representative from New Mexico's 1st Congressional District, which includes all of Torrance County, since 2021, succeeding governor candidate Deb Haaland. Prior to being elected as our congresswoman in 2020, she served in the NM House of Representatives, representing House District 28 since 2019. Before running for the legislature in 2018 she served in the Office of Management and Budget during the Obama administration. 

Born in Farmington and raised in Albuquerque. She graduated from Cibola High School in 1997 and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in human ecology and natural science from Saint Mary's College of California in 2002. She then received a Master of Science degree in development sociology with a minor in American Indian studies from Cornell University in 2007, where she was also a PhD candidate.
